Smartxide DOT Therapy

Laser skin treatments are very effective in removing lines and wrinkles, acne scars and sun damage and other skin blemishes.

It works be removing part of the top layer of your complexion to uncover the smoother, fresher skin beneath. Then, after about 30 days, your skin starts to reshape and grow new layers which continue to improve for 6-12 months after the procedure. Usually, for skin rejuvenation, only one treatment is required.

The skin treatment softens deep lines and fine wrinkles until they disappear. Your skin is smoother, fresher and more youthful.

We will recommend you to complete a skin care regime in the preceeding weeks before the procedure in order to maximise your skin's health before the treatment and therefore maximise the benefical effects of the SmartXide..

With excessive sun damage, the skin is in such poor condition that botox injections will not be enough to improve the appearance around the eyes. Sometimes, the skin is too thin and wrinkles with the very slightest of muscle contraction.

The answer is to improve the texture, tone and overall quality of the skin so that the skin is much firmer and less likely to crease.

SmartXide uses the very latest laser technology to resurface the skin around the eyes or hands with just a few days of redness. The results start to appear after a week or so, but continue to develop for 18 months. Only one treatment maybe required. For an effective treatment we recommend having the procedure under a light anaesthesia to ensure your pain free experience, and also booking a week off work in order for your skin to recover.

For optimal results and a quicker recovery, a course of Omnilux Light treatments are recommended.

It is essential to use SPF 30 following any skin treatment, and to avoid prolonged sun exposure for at least 30 days following a SmartXide treatment. After all, why go through a treatment if you are just going to damage your skin again!

Why is the CO2 laser resurfacing technique the best?

The CO2 laser is considered the standard for laser resurfacing. Used for years to remove the aging outer layer of the skin to allow the inner skin tissue to regenerate, it successfully helps form newer, smoother and more youthful appearing skin. It effectively stimulates new collagen growth in the deeper skin layer, improves the damage caused by the sun, plumps the skin, removes unwanted pigmentations, smoothes wrinkles, improves acne scars, and tightens the skin. Thus, essentially almost all the changes of aging can be treated with this amazing new laser technology.

What is the recovery from laser resurfacing?

The SmartXide DOT is an ablative type of laser resurfacing. Thus, because it destroys the superficial layer of skin cells, it has more downtime than the non ablative techniques. However, it produces far superior results. The best part of this story is that relative to the older CO2 laser resurfacing techniques, this fractionated CO2 laser results in much less downtime. Most people are able to go back to normal work and activities after a week. This is about a third of the healing time required with older traditional laser resurfacing.

HOW IS THE PROCEDURE DONE? The procedure is performed in the clinic using a twilight anaesthesia for your comfort so that you have a completely pain free experience. It takes only around 30 minutes to do the whole process. Afterwards, most patients complain of just mild discomfort treated with pain medications. You will need antibiotics and anti-virals to protect you from infection. A prescription will be provided.

Can other procedures be doen at the same time?

Laser resurfacing can be combined with other facial rejuvenating techniques to give you even the best results with the least downtime. Botox can help eliminate wrinkles that form in the upper face and around the eyes from dynamic muscle contractions. Facial fillers, such as Restylane, Emervel, Radiesse and fat can replenish the volume that is lost as you get older. IPL Photofacial treatments can fade and decrease the age-spots and sun spots to enhance the effect of the CO2 laser on these changes. Combining these options can enhance the results of laser resurfacing to rejuvenate your face even more.

Are people happy about the results?

Most people are very glad they had SmartXide Dot performed. Their face is smoother with less wrinkles, lines, and pigmentations. They exhibit a more youthful appearance. Plus, they were able to do this without going under the knife and getting a face lift.
