Frequently asked questions about Macrolane Breast Enhancement.
1. What exactly is Macrolane?
Macrolane is a naturally regenerative treatment that can help to fight the effects of aging, and aid in contouring and replacing volume in facial and bodily tissues. The process is non-surgical and non-invasive, and is recommended in the cases of breast enhancement, volume restoration and the graceful shaping of bodily surfaces. It has the ability to contour and sculpt breast tissue, buttocks and calves and to smooth out any irregularities on the surface of the skin.
Macrolane is the very first body treatment to make use of hyaluronic acid and is grounded in unique patented NASHA™ technology (Stabilized Non-Animal Hyaluronic Acid). This technology has been utilised in 70 countries and has been well-documented and clinically revered across the globe.
2. What is NASHA?
NASHA is produced through a process by which naturally occurring hyaluronic acid (HA) is stabilised to make a three-dimensional HA network without allowing the original chemical structure to retain any damage. The process results in a biodegradable NASHA gel that is a near identical if not a purer match to natural HA, and enables longer durability than the original acid.
HA is a natural substance, occurring in skin and other bodily tissues. It is made up of polysaccharide molecules that are known to attract moisture. Hyaluronic acid is a large part of your skin’s structure and is responsible for the organisation of substances like elastin and collagen, well known wrinkle solutions and skin shaping agents. The amount of HA present in the skin’s substructure decreases as time goes by and, thus, the skin’s capacity to retain moisture and volume dwindles, as we get older. The result is that your skin becomes thin and dry, giving you an aged appearance.
3. What are the benefits of Macrolane?
Surveys and market research have shown that a great number of women, and increasingly more commonly men, have a desire to change or slightly adjust the shape of their bodies in a natural, non-invasive and non-permanent way. They are reluctant to turn to surgery or the use of implants as this can be daunting, not to mention dangerous. Anaesthesia and scarring can also be reasons for reluctance or refusal to venture into that region of surgical enhancement.
Macrolane, as a non-surgical alternative, is relatively free of the time commitment associated with surgery when one takes recovery time and check ups into account. It is also administered under local anaesthetic and, if you are not completely happy with the results, you can rest assured that they are only temporary. Women who are considering the use of Macrolane can be reassured that the treatment does not adversely affect the breast tissue in any way, nor will it interfere with future mammograms and/or breast examinations.
4. What does the procedure involve?
Prior to the commencement of any treatment, the surgeon or specialist doctor should discuss in depth exactly where you would like to have the Macrolane applied. He or she will inject a small quantity of local anaesthetic both into and onto the surrounding area of the place you are having the treatment in order to numb and prevent any pain. You will then be injected with the Macrolane via a syringe and may be closed up with a tiny stitch. The doctor will advise as to whether you will have to return in order to have the stitch removed or whether it will dissolve naturally in time.
All in all, the treatment should take around 45 minutes to carry out and you may return to regular daily activities immediately. Numbness may be experienced for a few hours while the anaesthetic loses its effects. The Macrolane may feel rather firm for a few days immediately after the application because water is being absorbed but this will fade after a few days and the tissue will soften and start to resemble your natural breast tissue.
5. How long till I begin to see results?
Be sure to discuss your expectations in detail with your medical practitioner and take advice seriously. Rejuvenation is a very individualised idea and it is important to ensure that you get the results that you’ve been hoping for. After your Macrolane treatment, the results will be instantaneous and you may go straight back to your daily activities.
While the durability of the results among patients can vary greatly, most people see results that last more or less 12 months. It is believed that the longitude of the effects is largely dictated by genetic factors, age, skin quality and lifestyle choices. The most vital thing to remember is that the effects of Macrolane are not permanent- the material that is injected is eventually fully absorbed by the body. This is often seen as an advantage as it provides an ultimately reversible result and eliminates the possibility of a traumatic realisation that you are not happy with a more permanent surgical enhancement. Further treatments can help to retain volume or achieve the desired result.
6. Are there any serious risks?
Macrolane was developed over a long seven year process and has undergone comprehensive research testing and clinical evaluation. It has met all the essential legal and medical requirements and is safe to use for these intended conditions and purposes. In a very few cases, mild reactions to the injection itself can occur. These may include redness, swelling, bruising, itching or tenderness. Thankfully, however, these generally resolve themselves naturally and without any treatment. Ask your doctor if you have further concerns.
In the first week after the treatment, strenuous activity or heavy lifting should be avoided if at all possible. While it is fine to go about doing your day to day activities, it is advised that you should not put any unnecessary pressure on the area that has been treated and avoid exposure to extreme heat or cold.
