Body Conscious Brits Look to Accent® for Last Minute Holiday Figure

Posted by: Ravi Jain Posted Date: Monday, 10 August 2009 04:16 PM

With a gloomy UK summer now on the cards, many Brits may now be looking for a last minute getaway deal, only to be worried about the prospect of showing their figure off in a swimsuit. But thanks to the wonders of non-surgical Accent®, a beautiful bikini body could just be four weeks away!

Whilst research suggests that over a fifth of women start their health kicks in the three month run-up to the summer holiday season, with many families cutting back on holidays due to the recession, lots of women are likely to have relaxed their diets and exercise as a result and are now not in ‘holiday shape’, according to leading cosmetic expert Dr Ravi Jain, Medical Director at Riverbanks Clinic.

“Many women who come to Riverbanks Clinic are very conscious about their love handles and cellulite and the summer season just makes them even more aware of how they look in a bikini. With the Met Office reporting a wet summer ahead, many could be looking to jet off on a last minute break but don’t have time to get into shape, which is where Accent® is perfect and results can be achieved in just four weeks,” explains Dr Jain who practised on Harley Street before starting his own award-winning clinic Riverbanks.

According to Dr Jain, Accent® provides noticeable results on all skin types, on patients of almost any age and it can be used on any part of the body to achieve tighter, more contoured and rejuvenated skin. And with Riverbanks offering Accent® treatments and with prices starting from just £150 it is proving to be the perfect option for those looking to firm up and get rid of cellulite in time to jet off for a last minute holiday in the sun.

“The great thing about Accent® is that no anaesthetic is needed, there is no associated recovery time and there is a minimal risk of side effects. The process also stimulates the production of new collagen to improve skin surface texture. Treatments with the Accent® system are quick, and provide steady improvement with excellent skin tightening results,” says Dr Jain.

Should an 18 year old be encouraged to have Botox?

Posted by: Ravi Jain Posted Date: Monday, 01 June 2009 01:28 PM

You can't fail to have seen the recent news that a surgically enhanced mother gave her daughter Botox as an 18th birthday present, and for a while we didn't comment on it, mainly because everyone else did!

But after numerous emails and messgaes, and reading this story where the doctor involved defends his position on choosing to give the Botox, we thought we should let you know Dr Ravi Jain's thoughts.

"In my professional opinion" said Doctor Jain, "She is too young to have Botox, and the treatment was inappropriate. In addition, it could lead to the young lady developing abnormal perceptions of her body image, as appears to be the case of her mother."

He goes on to say: "I've seen models as young as 18 given breast enhancements, but it would have to be a very convincing argument to convince me that this sort of treatment needs to be given to someone so young"

Breast implants cause the most problems following surgery abroad

A survey of 208 UK Consultant plastic surgeons revealed that breast augmentation caused the most complications following cosmetic surgery procedures in other countries.

  • 29% - Breast Augmentation
  • 25% - Tummy Tuck
  • 16% - Breast Reduction
  • 10% - Face lift

The study by BAPRAS reiterates that patients should always seek quality of care ahead of price matching for any medical procedure.

Botox on the rise despite the credit crunch

Posted by: Ravi Jain Posted Date: Sunday, 04 January 2009 07:51 AM

With many cosmetic surgery groups closing down due to the economic crisis, it may come as a surprise to hear that last month was our best ever December, despite being closed for 2 weeks due to my holiday! Many experts believe that patients are delaying more expensive surgical treatments and favouring the less expensive treatments such as Botox, dermal fillers such as Radiesse and laser treatments.

With cosmetic surgery procedures costing from £8500 one can have a non-surgical facelift for a fraction of the price by combining non-surgical treatments such as Accent Skin Tightening and SmartXide and Botox. More importantly, there is no anaesthetic risk to worry about either. Botox treatments start from around £200 and so are much more affordable for many people.

Effective Personal Skin Care...

Posted by: Ravi Jain Posted Date: Tuesday, 09 December 2008 04:59 AM

Have you ever been to the chemist or a cosmetic counter and bought a new cream, just to see if its better than the last one you tried? I hear this all too often from my patients and its not surprising. Market leaders such as L'Oreal and Clinique spend fortunes on trying to persuade you to try their latest offerings using the latest buzz words. They have even hijacked the term 'Cosmeceuticals' which was previously reserved for medical grade cosmetics. As a result of years of trial and error, many women lose heart in over the counter remedies and become increasingly sceptical about new claims made by cosmeceuticals. However, with a little bit of guidance, excellent results are possible with effective creams which don't cost the earth.

The Basic Principles

Exfoliation, Hydration and Protection are the 3 main principles in effective skin care. Many products claim to hydrate and exfoliate but in my experience most of the over the counter ones are largely ineffective. That is because they only siit on top of the skin's outermost layers and so only act on dead skin cells which can't respond to any treatments. Good, physician-strength cosmeceuticals contains molecules which are actually small enough to penetrate deeper into the skin where the living cells are. Here, they can trigger various cell reactions to promote new cell growth, exfoliation and hydration. Because healthy cells are targeted, the results are much more noticeble and much longer lasting. Some of the ingredients such as Idebenone, actually penetrate into the skin cell itself, cleaning up harmful cell waste products at the point they are produced and therefore minimising damage to the cell and speeding up the celll-repair process. Idebenone is the active part of Coenzyme Q10 and is found in Prevage MD at a strength high enough to work (unlike the standard Prevage available over the counter).

Give us full control and you won't regret it

At Riverbanks, we use the Priori & Vitage Skin Care Ranges and the physician-strength Prevage MD and Priori FORTE ranges. By using customised programmes for you, we can be very confident in giving you noticeable results within just one month of the programme. If you combine the home care kits with a course of peels and omnilux treatments, even better results are possible.

We offer every customer a personal skin care consultant who will TAKE FULL CONTROL of your skin care for you, making sure that you use the right products for your skin type and taking full responsibility for you. With this prescriptive approach, we take the headache out of skin care for you and you can then rest, knowing that our professionals will do all the thinking for you.

Cosmetic Surgery

Posted by: Ravi Jain Posted Date: Friday, 24 October 2008 09:10 AM
Many of my patients have asked me if I saw the TV show by Lesley Ash, highlighting the dangers of poor regulation in the cosmetic industry. The UK is the only country in the western world where anyone can exploit a loophole and inject dermal fillers. Not surprisingly, problems occur. Patient safety is always always always the primary concern of any good doctor. Experienced cosmetic doctors can recognise early warning signs of complications, and also can deal with them so that the patient's health is preserved at all times.

My patients already value the importance of seeing an experienced doctor and many say that they would never consider treatments from non-doctors. In the interests of patient safety I implore you all to strongly recommend your friends to a cosmetic doctor if you know they are being treated by others. Sometimes it might cost a bit more, but then you will have peace of mind....
